Striving for a transformed workplace: LNP Attorneys nominated for the 8th Gender Mainstreaming Awards

In recognition of the firm’s commitment to changing the status quo, LNP Attorneys has been nominated in the 8th Gender Mainstreaming Awards in the category of Equal Representation and Participation. Finalists were announced in late July, with winners and runners up to be named at a virtual awards ceremony on 3 September.

“We are thrilled to be recognised by these prestigious awards. We actively work towards transforming the industries in which we operate, starting at home. Our firm is 76% female owned and we push ourselves to set an example of what a transformed workplace can achieve,” comments Nikita Lalla, Chief Executive of LNP Attorneys. Lalla is no stranger to the awards process, with the firm being shortlisted earlier this year for six categories of the African Legal Awards, and an award-winning history reaching back to the firm’s early years.

Business Engage developed the Gender Mainstreaming Awards to encourage private sector to buy-in to achieving more meaningful representation of women in the mainstream of business. One of eleven categories, the Equal Representation and Participation Award recognises organisations which have developed strategies or have already implemented measures for the progressive realisation of a greater representation and meaningful participation of women in decision-making structures, which must include:

  • Setting targets for such representation and participation.
  • Building women’s capacity to participate.
  • Enhancing the understanding and attitudes of men to accept the capabilities and participation of women as their equals.
  • Developing support mechanisms for women.

“Our previous award nominations have recognised our expertise in providing world-class legal solutions for the energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors. They have been centred on law. Now, for the first time we are being recognised not for what we do, but how we do it, competing with companies across varying industries who are all playing their part in changing the workplace and ensuring that women are heard in the boardroom,” says Lalla.

With a people-centric approach, LNP Attorneys focuses on delivering practical and innovative legal solutions on time and within budget. The team understands the fine line between legal certainty and commercial reality, as well as the importance of proactively anticipating and managing risk. This enables the firm to provide comprehensive legal and strategic advice and deliver practical, commercial solutions whether drafting and negotiating contracts or resolving disputes.
